Best Wishes from Family Caregiver HUGS
I am a wife and caregiver and must flow back and forth into each roll as the day unfolds, trying to be brave knowing this may be our last Christmas together.
We spend the time together, knowing time is the most precious gift to give and receive.
This will be Barry’s last Christmas, which we shall celebrate in the peaceful comfort of our home; thankful for the turkey dinner and not needing anything more to make the day any more enjoyable.
Barry knows he is experiencing his “last” of many experiences of life. Some days he is humble, enjoying what time he has left and other days toxic dementia sets in and he can become very abusive.
I breathe in strength and exhale Barry’s wrath of anger and carry on with his care. Today, Christmas Eve day, Barry is not well and wonder if Barry will even feel like eating his Christmas dinner tomorrow. Still, I must go through the motions, making dinner, being cheery, knowing in my heart this will be our last holiday season of 22 years together.
This holiday will be more of reflection instead of good cheer for the New Year. This is a time of peace on earth and good will to all souls and with this I shall respectfully wish everyone best wishes.
